Dallas County public health emergency – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins declared a local public emergency disaster on Thursday evening.

The statement came after Jenkins announced five more coronavirus cases in Dallas County on Thursday evening.

Three coronavirus cases had already been confirmed by Dallas County, bringing the total to eight.

The five new cases include a 70 year old woman, a 40 year old man, a 50 year old man, a 60 year old man and a 60 year old woman.

Two of the people are currently hospitalized. Three others are isolating at home. One is a resident of Balch Springs, the other are residents of the city of Dallas.

Jenkins said one of the new cases had no previous trips, indicating that the virus is spreading to the community.

“We spread the community,” said Jenkins. “Now it is up to all of us … to do everything possible to prevent it from accelerating. If this arrives in our nursing homes, in our centers for the elderly and reaches our population over 60 years old, it will be deadly and we ‘must do everything everything possible to prevent this from happening. ”

Meetings of 500 or more people will be banned in Dallas County as part of the order starting at 11 am on Friday.

For all other meetings, Jenkins and the Dallas County Health and Human Services “strongly recommend that you follow the social distance protocols attached to this Order, including cancellation, rescheduling or failure to attend events with more than 250 people” . And high-risk individuals, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), are urged to cancel, reschedule or not participate in events that will or will likely have 10 or more people.

“While we are discouraged by the likely spread of the community, this was expected given what we have seen in other communities across the country and around the world. I urge all residents to continue evaluating their personal risk and the individual mitigation activities they can carry out to reduce their risk. Personal actions related to basic hygiene and social distancing are some of our best tools for public health, “added the director of DCHHS, dr.

Dr Philip Huang, Dallas County Director of Health and Human Services, discusses the spread of the community and the need for social removal in accordance with the new Local Disaster Declaration for Public Health Emergency and the order of community meetings in effective at 11 on Friday 13 March 2020.

Late Thursday evening, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson signed a proclamation to declare a state of emergency in Dallas that gives the city “the authority to do what it needs to protect public health, safety and well-being.”

How to avoid the COVID-19 infection:

The best way to prevent infection is to take precautions to avoid exposure to this virus, which are similar to the precautions you take to avoid the flu. CDC always recommends these daily actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you’re sick.
  • Cover the cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

And the 40-year-old reality television reality claims that its goal for 2020 is to be “so present in the moment”.

When asked about his 2020 goals, he added Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Rose Inc to the lifestyle website: “Personally: Ahhhh, always growing.

Looking for love? Wash your hands first, for example dating app | Life and style

Dating apps are adapting to love in the days of the coronavirus, warning their users of the high risks of going on dates as they try to make sure they don’t turn off completely when it’s time to self-isolate.

OKCupid, who is proud of its data-driven approach, asking users to fill out detailed questionnaires and combining them with others that provide similar answers, sent a push alert to all users by asking them an additional question: “Coronavirus affects the your going out with life? “

The company was prompted to push the demand after noticing a 262% increase in the number of mentions of the virus in UK profiles between January and March, a spokesman said, leading to as many mentions on all profiles during the first week. of March alone as there were throughout February.

UK users aren’t – yet – discouraged by the fact that the virus comes out on dates, with 93% saying it would continue to see people in real life, but apparently the virus has pushed people to spend more time. looking for love: OkCupid has had a 7% increase in new conversations in the past five days, the company said.

Other dating apps have taken a softer approach, at least for the time being. Tinder has begun to warn users of the risks of meeting in person, with an interstitial screen that opens warning users to wash their hands, bring hand sanitizer, avoid touching their faces and “keep social distance in public meetings. “.

Hinge hasn’t yet mentioned the virus in the app itself, limiting its outreach efforts to winking at promotional tweets similar to a public service announcement warn users to “wash your hands before stealing the chips from your zipper date. It’s okay to “share” the chips, but not the germs. “

As for the users themselves, the virus is taking a kind of toll – on some. Nicole Byer, the host of the podcast Why Won ’You Date Me?, tweeted last week that “I was talking to a man on Tinder and I told him I was traveling and he said” with this coronavirus !? “Then he has no equal.”

What happened to Lucy on Tinder’s date was chilling. It’s time to investigate the dating apps – Hack

It all started fairly routine: Lucy paired a guy on Tinder, they chatted on the app, so they decided to meet in person.

There was dinner, a movie, other jokes: it was a fun date.

“He looked adorable, I liked him very much … He was a boy I saw dating.”

If you or someone you know needs help:

  • Call 1800 RESPECT or visit their website
  • Child trauma survivors can contact the Blue Knot Foundation on 1300 657 380 or visit their website.
  • Helpline for kids: call 1800 55 1800 or visit their website
  • Life line: call 13 11 14 or visit their website

At the end of the date, he offered to take Lucy home. But once he was in his van, the plan quickly changed.

He went up into the bush, towards Dandenong Ranges, on the outskirts of Melbourne. It would be fun and they could sleep in the van, he said, despite Lucy’s protests.

“It was really scary and things have definitely progressed more than I wanted.”

Lucy told him she didn’t want to have sex, but her date didn’t listen.

“I was raped that night,” says Lucy.

Upon returning to her apartment the next morning, Lucy’s appointment seemed serene about what had happened the night before. He also gave her advice on how to enjoy sex more.

“Because I didn’t orgasm, he was saying to me, ‘You just have to relax, blah blah.’ He was giving me advice. I don’t think I said anything,” he said.

“I think we had a conversation and when we were talking about me without orgasm he was like, if you need help, I’m happy to help you, and I said I won’t send you messages.”

Dating apps are number one where Australians meet their romantic partners

The rapid rise of dating apps

Ten years ago, no one had heard of the term “swipe right”; it is now used as a theme for weddings, while online stores sell baby rompers that say, “Tinder’s date went well.”

Finding love and connections on dating apps is no longer a niche: it is now the number one way Australians meet their partners.

Knowing how dating apps in Australia have become ubiquitous, we were curious to find out more about what happens when the dates organized on the apps go wrong.

In a survey from last year, we asked our audience one question, among others, about their lives: what is the worst experience you have had on a dating app?

Most of the men’s responses were more frustration than concern: “I met someone who was clearly much older than their profile,” said one man. Another told us about an appointment he just wanted to watch reality TV at home.

For women like Lucy, however, what constituted a “bad” experience was much worse.

One woman described having been taken to a park and having an appointment to masturbate in front of her. Another told us that they had been raped orally. Many others have told us other stories of sexual harassment, assault, stalking and, in a particularly shocking case, held hostage overnight.

We are starting a crowdsourcing investigation and we want your help

There is surprisingly little information on how harassment and sexual assault manifest in the dating world now that it is dominated by apps and websites.

What we do know is that the problem is big enough to warrant a serious investigation: 13 percent of respondents in Triple J’s What’s Up In Your World survey, like Lucy, said they had an experience with a dating app which made them insecure.

phone screen copy.jpg

We want to know how dating companies handle complaints, whether repeat offenders can use dating apps to find their victims, how the police investigate these crimes and how often complaints and sexual harassment are underestimated.

It is in the public interest to find answers to these questions and we want your help to get them. If you feel comfortable, we want you to share your experience in our crowdsourcing surveys.

Your identity will be treated as strictly confidential by ABC, unless otherwise agreed with you, and the information you provide us will not be published without your explicit authorization.

For more details on how the information we collect during crowdsourcing investigations is handled, see ABC’s Crowdsourcing Collection Statement.

Britney Spears’ ex-husband, Kevin Federline, is “handling the situation” after 13-year-old son Jayden talks about Britney’s private life on social media – 09-Mar-2020

He said to his followers: “What’s going on with my mom? I’ll tell you all my mom’s story and stuff if I have 5,000 followers on my Instagram. That stuff will come out in the future [when] I become very popular. “

And he asked a fan if he’ll make new music anytime since about a year has passed since his Las Vegas residency ended, he said, “Actually I haven’t seen her make a lot of music. I don’t think that .. I don’t know, friend.

“I don’t even know. I remember once I asked her, I said,” Mom, what happened to your music? “and she said,” I don’t know, honey. I think I could quit. “I’m like,” What? What are you saying? Like, do you know how much bank you make from that stuff? “

Jayden also slammed his grandfather Jamie Spears – who famously resigned temporarily as Britney’s personal curator last August following a physical alteration with Jayden’s 14-year-old brother Sean Preston.

He shouted: “‘How can we support your mother?’ Well, I don’t know, because it’s like I’m trying to do things, but like they’re all about me or something.

“‘Is your grandfather a jerk?’ Yes, he’s a pretty big jerk. He can die. “

Now, a Kevin Federline lawyer – with whom Britney was married between 2004 and 2007 – has said that the 41-year-old star is handling the situation as a “responsible parent”.

Mark Vincent Kaplan said in a statement: “This is what happens when a thirteen year old behaves as if he were 13. Kevin is handling the situation as one would expect from a responsible parent.”

At the time of writing, Britney herself has not commented on her son’s outburst.

Rob Kardashian’s request to strip Blac Chyna’s custody of her daughter was rejected – 02-Mar-2020

However, according to The Blast, the 32-year-old sock designer may still seek Dream’s exclusive custody, but will not be addressed in emergency circumstances.

In the court documents filed by Rob earlier this year, he asked that Chyna’s time with Dream be limited to weekends only and with a babysitter gift.

She claimed that Chyna – who also has seven-year-old son King Cairo with ex-partner Tyga – regularly organizes parties in her home opposite Dream and invites strangers to get drunk with her.

Rob also claimed that Dream’s behavior has changed recently since he started “naked twerking, and reciting sexual positions that his mother had told her”.

He also claimed that his daughter came to him with dirty hair and dirty teeth.

The once lonely star – who dated Chyna for 12 months in 2016 – is worried about Dream’s banal mouth as he starts saying “bitch” and “What the f ** k?”, Which he said are terms he doesn’t hear when she is at her house.

Rob believes that his sister Khloe Kardashian can support his accusations since reportedly he has noticed a behavioral change in Dream since he is “more in defense mode” and is “definitely more aggressive” during his play dates with his cousins.

Rob also asked the courts to approve his request to have Chyna submit a drug and alcohol test no less than 30 minutes before each visit with Dream.

He also asked that the supervising nanny be granted authority to end the visit immediately in the event of violence in front of her daughter.

Second US case of person who received a virus from the community – NBC Bay Area

THIS IS AN UPDATE OF BREAKING NEWS. AP’S FIRST STORY BELOW:

Health officials have confirmed the second case of new coronavirus in the United States that is believed to have been passed on to a person who has not traveled internationally or has come into close contact with whoever had it.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday that officials are “aware of a second possible example of the spread of the COVID-19 community in California.” The CDC stated in a statement that the patient has given positive results to the virus and is considered an alleged positive case.

San Jose health officials said the patient was an older adult woman with chronic health conditions who had no travel history or known contact with a traveler or an infected person. It comes a day after state officials stated that a woman hospitalized at the UC Davis Health Center in Sacramento had contracted the disease after no known contact.

“This new case indicates that there is evidence of community transmission, but the extent is not yet clear,” said Dr. Sara Cody, Santa Clara County Health Officer and director of the County Health Department. Santa Clara.

Public health officer from Solano County, Dr Bela Matyas, said public health officials identified dozens of people, but fewer than 100, who had close contact with the woman. They are quarantined in their homes. and some who have shown symptoms are isolated, Matyas said.

________

On Friday, health officials confirmed another case of the new coronavirus in Northern California, raising the count the day after health officials revealed that the first case in the United States was believed to have been passed on to a person who was not traveling on the level. international or whoever had it wasn’t in close contact.

Santa Clara County Public Health Department spokesman Maury Kendall said the person was isolated at home and further details would be given on Friday.

The day before, public health officials had hooked the number of people in California with the virus to 33 years after investigators announced that a woman hospitalized in Sacramento had contracted him.

Residents of the community where the woman first went to the hospital in Vacaville are at the epicenter of what officials are calling a breakthrough in the spread of the highly contagious coronavirus,

As infectious disease experts opened up in Vacaville, some residents of the city of 100,000 stocked up amid fears, things could get worse despite official reassurances, while others took it slow.

Vacaville is located between San Francisco and Sacramento in Solano County, in the central agricultural valley and close to the famous California wine region.

It is located approximately 10 miles (16 kilometers) from Travis Air Force Base, which was used as a virus quarantine location. Public health officials said they could not find any links between the infected woman and the passengers on the Diamond Princess cruise ship who were evacuated to the base when the ship was docked in Japan.

The case of the infected woman marks an escalation of the global epidemic in the United States because it means that the virus could spread beyond the scope of preventive measures such as quarantine, even if state health officials have stated that it was inevitable and that the risk of a diffuse transmission remains low.

California public health officials reported on Friday that 8,700 people are self-monitoring after arriving on commercial flights from China through Los Angeles and San Francisco. It is from 8,400 that Governor Gavin Newsom quoted Thursday, although officials said that the number increases every day as more flights arrive.

Public health officer from Solano County, Dr Bela Matyas, said public health officials identified dozens of people – but fewer than 100 – who had close contact with the woman. They are quarantined in their homes and some who have shown symptoms are isolated, Matyas said.

Officials are not too concerned, for now, about occasional contact, because federal officials think coronavirus only spreads through “close contact, being less than a meter away from someone for what they call an extended period of time”, said Dr. James Watt, interim state epidemiologist at the California Department of Public Health.

The virus can cause fever, cough, wheezing and pneumonia. Health officials think it mainly spreads from the droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes, similar to the spread of the flu.

“I will definitely wear my mask and gloves at work because I am a server,” said bowling worker Denise Arriaga of Vacaville, who said she doesn’t care if she is criticized for additional precautions.

“At the end of the day, it’s my life,” he said.

The woman first sought treatment at Vacaville North VacayValley Hospital in Vacaville before her condition worsened and was transferred to the medical center.

The confusion about how quickly she was tested for coronavirus was about McKinsey Paz, who works for a private security company in Vacaville. The company has already accumulated 450 face masks and is attempting additional “since they are difficult to find”. The company owner purchased enough cleaning and disinfectant products to clean up the office and ship them home with employees.

But they seemed to be at an extreme for preparations.

Eugenia Kendall wore a face mask, but she feared anything, including the common cold. His immune system is compromised because he is undergoing chemotherapy and has been taking such precautions for some time.

“We are not paranoid. We are just trying to be practical,” said 31-year-old husband Ivan Kendall. “We clean the shopping carts if they have them, and when I get back in the car I clean my hands – and I only hope for the best.”

In their investigation into the hospitalized woman’s movements, officials were trying to figure out how she had taken it and who else it might have inadvertently infected.

They are interviewing immediate family members and expanding their network to include more distant family members who may have been in contact, social gatherings such as the church the patient may have attended and any possible time spent at work or events such as a concert.

In addition to the woman, all the other 59 cases in the United States were for people who traveled abroad or had close contact with others who traveled.

Previous cases in the United States included 14 people who had returned from epidemic areas in China or their spouses; three people who were evacuated from the city of Wuhan in central China; and 42 American passengers on the Diamond Princess cruise ship.

The global tally of those affected by the virus hovered around 83,000 on Friday and caused over 2,800 deaths, most of them in China.

Anthony Davis leads the LeBron-Less Lakers for the seventh consecutive victory – NBC Los Angeles

With LeBron James put aside, Anthony Davis knew he had to do a little more – everyone had to do a little more to fix it.

Davis scored 23 points and six rebounds in three quarters and the Los Angeles Lakers won their seventh game in a row and the NBA 18 in a row on the road against the Western Conference, beating the Golden State Warriors 116-86 plagued by injuries 116-86 without King James.

It meant taking better care of the ball in the second half and bringing energy to both ends.

“LeBron, when he’s out, is taking a lot of the things we do, so it’s up to all of us to make sure we fill in those gaps, and I think we did it tonight,” Davis said.

Rajon Rondo started in James’s place and contributed 12 points and six assists, while Los Angeles turned him into a 40-17 third quarter defeat. James sat outside due to recurring pain in his problematic left groin.

Davis fired 6 by 13, made 10 of the 12 free throws and also had a couple of blocked and stolen shots for the Lakers, whose 12 bills in the first half allowed the Warriors to keep him close. Kyle Kuzma added 18 points from the bench.

Rookie Eric Paschall scored 23 points off the bench for his eleventh 20-point game and Jordan Poole had 16 in the Warriors’ eighth consecutive defeat both overall and at home in the new Chase Center. Poole limped with 5:44 remaining in the third after rolling his right ankle, then returned after registering it, but briefly left Golden State with eight players available, two of them with 10-day contracts.

Golden State guard Ky Bowman came down with 1:11 to play and was helped.

The return of the Golden State striker Draymond Green from an absence of two games with a bruise in his right pelvic area was short: he was sent off 5:45 before the interval in his second technician just 11 seconds from his first at 5:56 am.

Golden State also lost Andrew Wiggins, a late scratch with spasms in the upper back. The Warriors resisted early but were unable to stay with the Lakers as they did in Los Angeles’ 125-120 victory here on February 8.

And if it couldn’t get any worse for the home team, beloved super-sub Lakers Alex Caruso drew the late MVP delays as the arena emptied quickly.

This losing streak is taking place on Warriors.

“We have to win a game,” said coach Steve Kerr. “We need to win a game every now and then to feel better about things. We are in a bad stretch right now. It’s hard.”

UPDATE OF JAMES

James had already been banned on Wednesday and coach Frank Vogel said that after the game a decision on James’s status would come Saturday morning before a game in Memphis that night.

“I’m just dealing with a little pain. There are still two days to go, “said Vogel.

James, who lost 27 games last season while breastfeeding the tender groin that injured Christmas Day 2018 at the Golden State, scored 40 points in Tuesday’s home season against Zion Williamson and the pelicans.

Kerr can see James as an example of a superstar taking him to a new level after a full offseason given that the Lakers star had played in eight consecutive NBA finals before last year.

Golden State has reached five consecutive finals, but not this season – so players like Stephen Curry, Green and Klay Thompson can benefit from prolonged rest.

“Looking at LeBron, he looks refreshed, he seems recharged. The idea of eight consecutive finals is crazy when you think of five here and what has been done and how our players have felt last year and the injuries they have hit, “said Kerr. “When everything is said and done, I think our kids should feel refreshed, refreshed and ready to go by next year’s training camp. I hope so. LeBron is also LeBron. It built differently than most people. “

Jessica Simpson felt “driven” to compete with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera when they were younger – February 26 2020

‘Entertainment Tonight’ said: “We grew up in a very competitive environment when it came to our record labels and we were driven to do things that weren’t necessary for success. Everyone found their own way, so beautiful and challenging I love the fact that everyone has truly remained who they are. There is so much space at the top! I mean, think of how many people are in heaven! Come on, there is a lot of space at the top and I am happy to share any top slot with nobody “.

The actress “Employee of the Month” has insisted even though she has “more things” than she wants to achieve, following in the footsteps of Christina and Britney with her Las Vegas residence is not in the cards.

He explained, “This is not on the wish list. I feel I should write many more songs to make a residency in Las Vegas.”

Instead, Jessica has admitted that she would prefer to run on Broadway and revealed that her book ‘Open Book’ means that she has many options.

He added, “You never know. Right now, a lot of things are happening. ‘Open Book’ has opened many doors.”

Jessica’s sister Ashlee Simpson previously praised her brother for sharing the “truth with the world” in memory, in which she discussed her high profile relationships with Nick Lachey and John Mayer, her battle with alcohol and how she was sexually abused as a child.

Ashlee wrote on Instagram: “I am so proud of my beautiful, courageous, kind, loving sister !!! It is good to see you share your truth with the world. You are so inspiring. I love you so much.”
