Coronavirus. Use of the mask is already mandatory in 10 entities

Starting today and next weekend, the use of the mouth mask is mandatory on the road and public transportation in at least 10 states, including the Mexico City; for those who do not accept the measure, governments such as the New Lion and Oaxaca they analyze the application of administrative sanctions.

Despite the fact that last week and at other times, the undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, mentioned that there is no ‘solid’ scientific evidence that the massive use of masks prevents the spread of covid-19, the measure was implemented in Mexico City, Puebla, Morelos, Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, Quintana Roo, Oaxaca, Durango, Coahuila and Yucatán, in addition to the cities of León and Chilpancingo.

Authorities from the Guerrero capital determined the mandatory use of mouth masks in department stores, markets and public transport units with the aim of reducing the number of infections.

In Mexico City, as of today this measure is mandatory in all parkings that make up the Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro to reduce infections, announced Wednesday the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum.

To support the measure, the SCT will deliver free one million face masks this Friday at the station Pantitlán of lines A and 9, those with the highest user traffic during peak hours.

In Puebla, the disposition to wear masks during the contingency was reflected in a decree of the Governor Miguel Ángel Barbosa and it will be the responsibility of the Secretaries of Health and of the Interior to determine in which places and how many mouthguards will be delivered so that the measure is fulfilled.

During the session of the State Committee on Health Safety of Tamaulipas, Governor Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca put into operation the Covid 19 Command Center, in charge of monitoring the evolution of the disease by municipality and there declared as the use of face masks on public roads.

Separately, the Municipal Contingency Committee of Cuernavaca Covid-19 determined the forced use of face masks in the capital. At the state level, the measure is mandatory for older adults, pregnant women, children and people with respiratory diseases.

In order to comply with the use of the mouthpiece, in New Lion from this weekend access to public transport will be prohibited, taxis and Uber, to people who do not carry it. Manuel de la O Cavazos, local health secretary, warned that carriers who do not comply with this requirement will be penalized.

In Oaxaca The use of face masks was also ordered for those who transit on public roads and in transportation during the contingency, including the governor Alexander Murat He announced that sanctions or fines will be applied against those who do not abide by provisions.

José Rosas Aispuro Torres, from Durango, reported that wearing masks is mandatory throughout the entity, and that this decision was made during an Interstate Meeting with Coahuila authorities.

The plan to prevent the spread of the virus in Quintana Roo includes the closure of main streets and the use of face masks, which will be delivered by the state police; In Yucatan whoever is on public roads should carry them and, likewise, all kinds of personnel who work in companies with essential activities. _

They are already preparing for the worst case scenario in eight states

With purchases of thousands of body bags, support for funeral expenses, opening of new crematoriums, expansion of cemeteries and even the excavation of a mass grave, at least eight states are ready for a catastrophic scenario due to the covid-19 crisis.

Baja California Sur, Mexico City, Durango, Hidalgo, Querétaro, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas and Veracruz have thus responded to the increase in deaths and infections.

In La Paz, BCS, the director of Panteones, Carmen Benítez, reported that a new crematorium will be opened and they are waiting for an oven – which they have just bought – to arrive next week.

Within days of entering the most critical stage, according to the estimation of the Ministry of Health, CdMx will publish in the official Gazette an aid protocol for funeral expenses, cremation and use of cemeteries.

The capital’s Ministry of Inclusion and Social Welfare reported that all that remains is to formalize collaboration agreements with funeral companies to provide the service.

In Durango, body bags have already been purchased, confirmed the state Secretary of Health, Sergio González, and commented that they already have a stock of ready-to-use material, “but hopefully it doesn’t come to that. You have to think about solving the issue. ”

The Official Branch of the Hidalgo government published the day before yesterday in its Official newspaper the call for public bidding for the acquisition of 1,760 bags for adult and children’s corpses.

These are 950 bags for adult bodies, made with odorant stabilizing plasticizing polyvinyl chloride resin, and 810 children’s bags with the same characteristics, in addition to another 42 biodegradable ones destined for hazardous waste and the same amount for infectious solid-biological waste from low density.

Another city council that is already preparing for the possibility of massive deaths from the pandemic is Querétaro, whose local Ministry of Public Services reported that it will make crypts available for victims of covid-19.

Once the council authorizes it, a thousand 24 places will be put up for sale that were built in the Cimatario Pantheon between November and December, as part of the maintenance work and expansion of spaces on the premises.

The authorities of Culiacán, Sinaloa, are looking for a land with at least a thousand spaces for those killed by the virus.

In Matamoros, Tamaulipas, a mass grave is enlisted to temporarily deposit corpses, in case the deaths from the coronavirus soar.

This week the excavation and preparation of graves began in the municipal pantheon of Santa Cruz, on the Matamoros-Reynosa highway.

The mayor of Xalapa, Veracruz, Hipólito Rodríguez, said that they are working on the expansion of cemeteries in case more spaces are required, as happens in the Bosques del Recuerdo pantheon. In addition, the Oaxaca government acquired 200 airtight bags for the victims for covid-19.

Over the next few days, the Secretaries of Health and the Interior will publish the criteria for the management of corpses and cremation will have to be eliminated during the health emergency in view of the reality of enforced disappearances that exist in Mexico.

The undersecretary of Health, Hugo López-Gatell, assured that from the beginning of the talks the impossibility of applying cremation was identified, since there is a provision in the General Law of Victims that prevents it.

“It is inadmissible to consider cremation despite the fact that it is recommended in health terms, but it does not substantially affect the removal of this requirement in terms of protection against contagion,” he said.

He explained that the provisions establish that at all times there must be the possibility of searching for and identifying the disappeared; therefore, this guideline will be eliminated, despite the fact that it was contemplated in phase 1 and 2.

In the case of Coahuila, Miguel Riquelme He said that those who do not justify having a property in the mountain region will be returned from those places, as has already been happening.

Doctors adopt medicine promoted by Trump to combat Covid-19

Faced with the numbers and in the absence of known effective treatments, front-line doctors said they started using hydroxychloroquine and related chloroquine in patients who are deteriorating, because some small studies suggest a possible benefit.

Some said they had been pressured by patients to use the therapies widely touted by Trump and some of his supporters.

“I could take it,” Trump said Saturday, referring to hydroxychloroquine, although it has tested negative for the coronavirus twice, according to the White House. “We only hear really positive things and continue to collect the data.”

Possible side effects of hydroxychloroquine include vision loss and heart problems.

However, doctors interviewed by Reuters said they were comfortable prescribing the drug for a short time for patients with coronavirus, because the risks are relatively low and the therapies are inexpensive and generally available.

However, the protocols that indicate how these drugs should be used vary from hospital to hospital, including when to prescribe them and whether to combine them with other medications.

In addition, some studies with promising results involved patients who used therapy for mild or early-stage disease, so many of those people are likely to have recovered on their own. Patients admitted to hospitals in the United States are generally much sicker than the mild cases cited in the studies. According to doctors, these factors have made it difficult for them to determine if medications are making a difference.

“I have seen hundreds of patients with severe COVID and most of these people take hydroxychloroquine,” Dr. Mangala Narasimhan, regional director of critical care for Northwell Health, a system of 23 hospitals in New York, said in an email.

“In my opinion, although it is very early, I don’t see a dramatic improvement in hydroxychloroquine in these patients.”

Dr Daniel McQuillen, an infectious disease specialist at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts, said he has so far prescribed a course of hydroxychloroquine for about 30 COVID-19 patients because the drug has shown “a little bit of antiviral activity ” But he has not seen “marked improvement in patients.”

“Anecdotally, it may have had a limited effect in patients with milder disease,” said McQuillen. The therapy “has had no effect in limiting or slowing the progression of our patients who were at or near the ICU level when they arrived.”

Panic shopping leaves lupus patient without medicine

MEXICO.- Because the drug Hydroxychloroquine was mistakenly associated as a curative or preventive treatment against covid-19, the shortage was already present and those who really need it have not been able to buy it.

“There is a shortage of hydroxychloroquine and they don’t know when it will arrive. My mom is running out, Monday is the last pill to take and they give her a lot of pain and she stays crippled, she can’t even sleep from the pain that they give her, “said Patricia Gomar. Mrs. Eva was diagnosed with lupus in the elderly two years ago.

The medicine has allowed him to cope with the pain in his body. Due to the lack of hydroxychloroquine in pharmacies, her daughter had to look for it outside the country and did not obtain a favorable response. “In the whole country it is scarce and they don’t have a date, they don’t have when. They don’t give me a date to find it.

I spoke to a relative that I have in Tepatitlán and there they told him, as soon as he told them the name of the medicine, that they were selling it for covid-19, ”he added.

In past days, COPRISJAL restricted the sale of medicines to the public as long as they do not present a prescription, but now it is scarce.

Hydroxychloroquine is prescribed for diseases like lupus and rheumatism. In desperation to get treatment for her mother, Patricia asks for help on camera from Milenio Jalisco.

“If there is someone who please has bought enough boxes, they will sell them to me, it doesn’t matter, they will sell them to me,” he asked.

In the event that someone has mistakenly bought this medicine, a call is made to provide it to those who do need it.
