    Gynecology, the specialty of women

The birth of the first babies who, oblivious to the Covid-19 disaster in Spain, they decided reaching the world in March and April, demonstrated that the specialty of Gynecology and Obstetrics is the one most intrinsically linked to life. By its nature it is a surgical medical specialty. The composition of the group of specialists has also varied since the percentage of women has increased considerably compared to the past, since it had traditionally been a male specialty. Many gynecologists develop their careers in private practice and independently, although there seems to be a tendency to associate and work in groups with other professionals. There are also job opportunities in public health within hospitals, maternity clinics, planning centers, etc.
The specialists work in the two disciplines Gynecology and Obstetrics, although they can pay special attention to one of them. The average profile of patients cared for is that of young and healthy women who come to the consultation for medical check-ups or for follow-up during the months of pregnancy.
