The city of Beverley in East Yorkshire has been named one of the best places to live in the UK.
It appeared in the North and North East section of the Sunday Times list of Best Places to Live 2020.
The judges identified Beverley’s story, the city’s broadband and dog walking community as just a few of the reasons why it was listed.
A Sunday Times spokesman said: “We love Beverley for its attractive and historical nature: like York, but without all the tourists.
“It is also one of the best places in the UK for future proof full fiber, through KCOM.
“There is also a huge dog-walking community, notably on Westwood, 500 acres of pasture near the city, where sheep and golfers graze.”
Sunday Times expert judges evaluate a wide range of factors, from schools, transportation and broadband speed, to culture, green spaces and highway health to produce the ultimate guide to the best UK locations to call home.
Judges have traveled thousands of miles across the UK, visiting every location.
And after visiting Beverley they heard the city tick all the relevant boxes.

A Sunday Times spokesman said: “It does not seem two centuries since this beautiful Georgian market town, centered on the masterful Minster, needed fragrant salts.
“The elegant tearooms are still there, but if Vanessa’s gastronomy and coffee are a measure, the stuffed olives and the gin hams have replaced the curled buns and the weak gray count.
“The city center is a center for shopping, business, art and entertainment; it’s not a bad thing, since the surrounding Wolds are the land that time has forgotten, in a good way.
“There is also culture, such as the East Riding Theater which opened in a converted church in 2014. Its arrival sparked a frenzy of folk concerts and literary events.
“There is also an independent Parkway cinema and the excellent East Riding Archives center.”
The guide uses exclusive statistics, including updated house prices, provided by the mortgage company Habitoand TwentyCi which shows that the average property price in Beverley is £ 220,000 and the average rent comes in at £ 625 pcm.
