The caller who claims to be a child reports a false barricade situation in Lapeer County

MAYFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A caller who claimed to be a 12-year-old girl made an overwhelming joke on Saturday in Lapeer County reporting a fake barricaded gunman situation, authorities said.

According to the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office, the caller said his uncle was inside a house in the Mayfield Township at 4:23 in the morning. The caller identified the man, who is the registered home owner, by name, officials said. He told authorities that the man was threatening to shoot people.

The caller was also crying and screaming, “Please don’t shoot me,” authorities said. The person who took the girl’s call said she heard a loud bang at 4:33, so the caller said, “Please don’t shoot me again.”

The deputies surrounded the house but saw no activity.

They said they called the house owner at 4:42 in the morning. He told the authorities that he and his wife were sleeping. They came out and were cooperatives.

Authorities claimed that the call was a fake report. If the caller is identified, they will be punished, officials said.
