The Dacia Spring is essentially a slightly modified modification of the Renault City K-ZE for the Chinese market, which is the twin brother of the Renault Kwid hatchback. The series “Spring” practically completely repeats the concept car of the same name, which was presented last spring. The production version differs from the prototype in essence by a simpler design optics and an electric charging socket, now located at the front of the body.
In terms of dimensions, the Dacia Spring is more compact than the Renault Zoe, which is popular in Europe. The total length of the Romanian electric car is 3.7 meters, but the ground clearance is 15 centimeters. The luggage compartment has a capacity of 300 liters, which is the same as the new Renault Clio.
The Dacia Spring is equipped with a small electric motor that develops 45 horsepower and 125 Newton meters of torque. The electric car is equipped with a set of 26.8 kWh lithium-ion batteries. At a fast charging station, it can be charged up to 80 percent in less than an hour, while a full battery can be charged from a traditional household outlet in about 14 hours. The Dacia Spring has a reach of 225 kilometers (WLTP cycle).
The Romanian electric car will also have an “Eco” mode, which will limit the power of the electric motor to the 14 hp mark, which will increase the reach to a total of 295 km. In this mode, the Dacia Spring will be able to reach a maximum of 100 km / h (125 km / h in standard mode).
The standard equipment of the Dacia Spring electric car includes an electric power steering, a central locking system, power windows, six airbags and a small screen on the front panel. A multimedia system with a 7-inch touch screen and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as air conditioning and a rear-view camcorder, are available at an additional cost.
Dacia Spring will go on sale in Europe next spring. The car manufacturer has not officially announced the price of the car, however, industry experts estimate that it will be from 10 thousand euros. It is much cheaper than the Renault Zoe electric cars (from 21 thousand euros) and Nissan Leaf (from 29 thousand euros), which are currently popular in the European market.
