the drama could have been avoided… if the College had agreed to remove the level crossings!

A dramatic accident occurred Sunday evening, at the level of the level crossing of the rue de Tournai, in Estaimbourg. According to the first elements communicated by Infrabel and the emergency services on site, the accident occurred at level crossing No. 11 of the 75A railway line. Coming from Tournai, the train heading for Mouscron collided with a car crossing this level crossing. Daniel Chapitre, 79, died instantly.

However, we learn that this tragedy could actually have been avoided. Indeed, in 2020, the College had the opportunity to remove several level crossings deemed dangerous by Infrabel on its territory. Except that The College had refused to agree…

>> Back to this decision that could have saved Daniel’s life.

>> After this tragedy, the College could however reconsider its decision…
