Problems of autonomy or lack of recharging points for electric cars could have days counted if finally it comes to market which in practice is already the first car prototype designed to move thanks to the energy it captures through plates solar The Dutch company Lightyear has announced the launch of Lightyear One on June 25 in the Netherlands. The electric vehicle has only been developed to be powered by solar energy and, according to the firm's managers, will be the first step "in Lightyear's work to make clean mobility a concept accessible to everyone in any place in the world."
The vehicle is designed, from the beginning, to solve two of the main disadvantages of electric cars: autonomy and load. The vehicle can be driven for long periods of time without the need for cables or the need for charging. In addition, depending on the use, the battery can reach a range of about 600-800 kilometers.
On the other hand, the energy efficiency of the model makes the load two or three times faster than any other electric car on the market. This means that drivers could charge up to 400 km during a night with a normal power outlet, which allows them to use the Lightyear One in places that do not have infrastructures for charging electric cars.
The engineering of Lightyear One allows to maximize the use of energy. Optimized aerodynamics, light weight and four independent wheel motors reduce friction loss throughout the efficiency system.
Lightyear was founded in 2016 by five members of the team that Stella developed, recognized, among others, in the World Solar Challenge Awards or as Best Technological Achievement in the Crunchies Awards. He was also able to complete the driving of the Pacific coast of the United States, from Los Angeles to San Francisco, with a charge and zero emissions. Lightyear was born driven by the purpose of making safe and sustainable mobility available to anyone and anywhere in the world.
The objective of Lightyear is to ensure that, in the next ten years, there are cars with very low operating costs and a long service life in the market, so that the cost of use per km becomes extremely low. More than 80 people who have already booked a Lightyear One model for its release on the market in 2020 and 2021.
