Launched last week, Fleets are Twitter’s answer to Snapchat and Instagram stories. But unlike its models, Twitter’s new functionality doesn’t go away automatically.
As the website announces TechCrunch, bug prevents Fleets from self-destructing after 24 hours, and can therefore be viewed and downloaded by other users, without the author being notified.
Twitter reacted immediately and claims to be aware of the issue:
“We are aware of a bug that can be accessed via a workaround where some Fleets media URLs may be accessible after 24 hours. We are working on a fix that should be deployed soon.“
If you share content that you want ephemeral, we advise you to wait for this fix, or turn to Instagram or Snapchat (or WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger and all the applications that offer stories).
That thing you didn’t Tweet but wanted to but didn’t but got so close but then were like nah.
We have a place for that now—Fleets!
