The French government will allocate 20 billion euros to strengthening the equity capital of companies via participatory loans guaranteed by the State, as announced on Monday by the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire during a press conference.

“We have, and I have personally heard the criticisms of a number of economists who said that these equity loans were insufficient, the recovery of equity had to be stronger. And so we have now set as ambition 20 billion euros in outstanding participatory loans for the reconstitution of companies’ equity, “said the minister, specifying that this threshold should be reached by 2022.

Such a contribution was provided for in the economic recovery plan of 100 billion euros, but the Minister of the Economy had to specify its exact amount and it will be included in the 2021 finance bill. The first loans will be available from first quarter 2021.
