May 2021 is the month of the long-awaited easing of restrictions and a return to relative normality. No change is given once and for all – said Wojciech Andrusiewicz, spokesman for the Ministry of Health, admitting that the government is considering a realistic scenario of restoring the restrictions in the fall.
The lockdown, according to the schedule presented by the government, is to end in May 2021. The industries that suffered the most from the ban on accepting customers will return to operation. They even heard the promise of opening restaurants i fitness clubs, by the Minister of Health, Adam Niedzielski, mentioned at the end of the list of defrosting the economy.
Already in mid-May 2021, we will most likely be able to remove the masks in the open, which for many Poles will be the best indicator of a return to normalcy. The government does not hide that the variety can be extremely fragile. If a sufficient percentage of the population is not vaccinated, we will have a repeat of the nightmare in the fall and the imposition of another one lockdownu.
Lockdown may come back in the fall. The fast rate of vaccination can protect us
The implementation of the schedule of easing the restrictions in May 2021 is not entirely certain. Adam Niedzielski made a reservation that the readiness to open new industries will depend primarily on the situation in hospitals and the course of the vaccination campaign. In the public space, the number of detected cases per 100,000 citizens is most often the key indicator, the government is also closely monitoring number of hospitalizations. If there are more than 20,000 Poles in hospitals due to COVID-19, there will be no easing.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Health, Wojciech Andrusiewicz, speaking with money.pl, made it clear that we are not dealing with the final farewell to the restrictions. The shape of the restrictions on the Polish economy in the fall will depend directly on the results National Immunization Program.
If it is achieved herd immunity, business closures will not be necessary. If, however, there are not enough people willing to vaccinate, we may face “another wave of human tragedies”.
We must always remember the basic rules of safety, we must take care of ourselves. It depends only on our responsibility how quickly we will bring down the next restrictions. Whether or not the restrictions will be permanently pulled depends on the vaccination process. Without mass vaccination, there is no safe and secure situation.
Despite the easing of restrictions, the race against time continues. According to expert calculations, herd immunity to COVID-19 can be achieved after vaccination 70 percent of the population. With vaccination efficiency at 200,000 injections per week and the assumption that a sufficient number of Poles will be vaccinated, this result will be achieved in September.
The National Immunization Program is to be accelerated, inter alia, by organizing a vacation in workplaces. Mass vaccination points are also to be launched in May 2021, and all adult citizens are to be referred for injections.
