The ground collapsed on the site of the former salt mine in Greater Poland’s Wapno. Luckily, nothing happened to anyone. The area is guarded by firefighters: mainly to prevent anyone from approaching the hole in the ground, filled with water.
As reported by the RMF FM reporter Mateusz Chłystun, the earth has collapsed in the area called by the residents of Wapno “plaster”: there are The salt mine workings have been closed for over 40 years.
The commune authorities ensure that the situation is under control and that the local residents are not in danger. However, they issued a communiqué in which they ask not to come close to this place.
The case was informed, inter alia, mining offices in Poznań and Katowice and the state Geological Service, whose employees will decide how to secure the sinkhole and how to prevent its enlargement.
As Mateusz Chłystun points out, this is not the first such event at the site of the former mine in Wapna. Previously, a similar situation occurred there spring 4 years ago: the earth then collapsed to a depth of almost 3 meters.
