The logistics industry fears for the supply of food and medicine with omicron rules

NHO Logistics and Transport fears that the rules, which among other things mean that all close contacts will be quarantined for ten days, will lead to the need to close logistics terminals and ports.

– We now demand exceptions from the quarantine provisions, to ensure supply
of food, vaccines and medicines / medical equipment to the population, says business policy director Ole A. Hagen in NHO Logistics and Transport.

He points out that the automated parts of the logistics facilities can not distinguish between what are Christmas presents and what is needed food and medicine.

– We have been critical of the new quarantine rules for omikron and the consequences for the industry. When Bergen municipality will now treat all cases of infection as omicron, it could create enormous challenges for the operation of logistics terminals and thus the supply to the Norwegian population, says Hagen.
