After the M pack on the S 1000 RR, BMW has presented in recent months some accessories and equipment badged “M Performance”, in particular carbon rims for this same S 1000 RR. This predestined – obviously – something else: the use of the M label, well known to fans of 4-wheel BMW, to enhance the sportiness of BMW Motorrad creations. For this M RR, the performances were obviously at the center of concerns. The 4-cylinder RR is now developing 212ch at 14.500rpm thanks in particular to new forged pistons Mahle, a high compression ratio, Pankl titanium connecting rods, a retouched intake and a new titanium exhaust line.
The M 1000 RR also inherited carbon fins developed for racing, which generate reinforced mechanical support. All benefits for stability, but also braking and traction since the electronics must less manage traction or braking power.
In terms of braking precisely, this M RR uses signed M brakes, directly derived from the equipment used in Superbike. The blue calipers M logo also highlight the rimsis in carbon M.
Visually, beyond its M Sport livery, the M 1000 RR is also distinguished by its engine protection in granite gray and its black tank cap.
If that is not enough, BMW Motorrad still offers a pack M competition which notably includes a few milled or carbon parts, but also a lightweight swingarm and the new DLC-coated M Endurance chain, which generates less friction and does not require maintenance.
