The Olympiques get a 20-year-old forward

The rumor has been circulating for a few weeks already. The news was confirmed on Tuesday, when a window opened to allow transactions in the QMJHL.

Boutin, who hails from the Quebec region, has been playing in the QMJHL since 2020. He recently had two consecutive 35-point seasons.

It has some attack potential. At 16, during his second season in the Quebec Midget AAA League, he collected 53 points in 37 games, with the Blizzard du Séminaire Saint-François.

To get him, the Olympiques traded young defenseman Elliot Kavanaugh to the Cape Breton Eagles. They also sacrificed a third-round pick in the 2025 draft and a sixth-round pick in the 2024 draft.

In this transaction, the Olympiques also got their hands on a 17-year-old winger from Gatineau, Xavier Parent.

More details to come…
