JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Coordinating Minister (Menko) for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto compared the price of the corona virus (Covid-19) vaccine from England produced by Oxford-Astrazeneca with the vaccine produced Sinovac from China.
“Through Astrazeneca, GAVI, CEPI, the price of vaccines is estimated to be lower, 3 to 5 US dollars. Meanwhile, Sinovac is between 10 and 20 US dollars,” he said in his speech at the Virtual 100 Economist Workshop, Tuesday (9/15/2020).
In addition, he also explained, the covid vaccines that are being tested include the Red and White Vaccine. He hopes that the vaccine will enter the development stage at the earliest in the third quarter of 2021.
“Other activities of Moderna, Genexin from Korea and the development of the Red and White Vaccine are expected to enter the third and mid-third phase or the third quarter in 2021,” he said.
Previously, BUMN Minister Erick Thohir said that the price of the Covid-19 vaccine for one person around 25-30 US dollars or Rp. 366,500-Rp. 439,800 (exchange rate of Rp. 14,660 per US dollar).
Erick had revealed that Bio Farma had collaborated with Sinovac regarding the raw material for the Covid-19 vaccine.
If by the end of 2020 the vaccine can be produced, then Bio Farma will have to buy the raw materials from Sinovac for 8 US dollars or Rp 117,135 (exchange rate of Rp. 14,641) per dose.
If the vaccine from Sinovac is ready to be used for mass immunization in Indonesia, the calculation of the estimated price from Bio Farma is IDR 25-30 US dollars or a range of IDR 366,000 to IDR 439,000 (the price of the Covid-19 vaccine).
