The region should vaccinate another 207,000 against Influenza – 05/10/2022

The health units of Greater ABC started yesterday the fourth stage of the flu vaccine. In this new phase of the campaign, teachers, people with disabilities, people with comorbidities and indigenous peoples can be vaccinated.

According to data from the mayor’s office, the region is expected to immunize at least 207,000 people from these groups, that is, 95% of the total target population. The estimate does not include Diadema, who did not provide numbers for the new stage, and Rio Grande da Serra, who did not answer questions from. Everyday.

The flu campaign began in late March. Health professionals, people over 60, children aged 6 months to 5 years, pregnant women and postpartum women are among the priority groups already served. The vaccination coverage index, however, remains below the forecast. The cities in the region – excluding Rio Grande da Serra – account for 52.1% of the vaccinated seniors, with 225,821 residents out of a total of 432,950.

The most worrying situation among pregnant and postpartum women. In São Bernardo, City Hall reported that only 0.5% of the group’s residents were vaccinated, only 380 women out of a total of 7,998. In Tiara, 1.2% of residents were vaccinated, 130 of the total of 10,833. Coverage is far from the target age group of 6 months and less than 5 years. São Caetano, for example, implemented 1,101 doses of the vaccine, representing 16.6% of the 6,626 children in the municipality’s age group.

City Hall reported that they are stepping up campaign coverage to expand vaccination coverage. In Diadema, Paço reported that health professionals avoid “access barriers”, remove the need for prior scheduling, for example, and act in carrying out an active search for users, a measure also adopted by Santo André.
