The Saaremaa will set sail as soon as possible for Matane to provide maritime service to the North Shore, by Monday. The cause of the oil leak on the ship FA Gauthier is not yet known, announces the Société des Traversiers du Québec.

The Saaremaa is located in Trois-Rivières. After about twenty hours of navigation to get to Matane, the ferry will have a period of preparation before starting service to Baie-Comeau and Godbout.

The STQ cannot confirm when the service will resume for the moment. She invites her customers to use the Rivière-du-Loup and Saint-Siméon ferry. Tests are planned on the FA Gauthier in the coming days.

“The oil leak was spotted yesterday. We sought to identify the cause in order to make the required repairs, ”said the Company in a press release. Divers conduct underwater inspections.
