Through a statement, the National Electoral Commission for New Ideas announced that they are nullifying the candidacy for the 2024 elections of Nidia Araceli Turcios Anaya, substitute deputy for former legislator Erick García. Furthermore, she is immediately expelled from the political party.
“The candidacy for the 2024 Electoral Elections of Nidia Araceli Turcios Anaya is left without effect. The substitute deputy is immediately expelled from the Nuevas Ideas party,” the statement said.
This decision is based on the Statutes, Regulations and Instructions that govern the New Ideas Political Party and take effect immediately. It should be noted that said bench reiterates its commitment to eliminate legislators who put their personal interests above the Salvadoran people.
Likewise, the National Civil Police (PNC) highlighted the arrest of Turcios. According to police information, this capture had not been announced, due to the fact that a thorough investigation process was being carried out and to avoid possible escapes.
