It was their owner who sounded the alert, this Monday 1is February in the morning. Two donkeys, quietly busy grazing on the banks of the Loire, found themselves trapped by the rising water levels at Thoureil, between Angers and Saumur (Maine-et-Loire).
On site, the firefighters studied the situation. With a height of about 1.50 m at the deepest point, it is out of the question to ford donkeys. A boat was launched, accompanied by divers.
The waters keep rising
The emergency services finally appealed to the Departmental Directorate of Territories, in the presence of the gendarmerie. At around 6 p.m., the two donkeys were pulled out of the woods. Their owners were able to recover them unharmed.
