The airline will begin operations the same day that the El Salvador International Airport reopens. He states that during all this time he has worked on biosecurity protocols that offer confidence to his travelers.
After six months without operations due to COVID-19, the Colombian airline Avianca, which has its main connection center in El Salvador, reported that it is ready to gradually resume its flights from September 19, the same date that the International Airport resumes commercial flights.
In its initial connectivity plan, the airline plans to reach 9 of the destinations, including Guatemala, Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula, Managua, Miami, Los Angeles and New York. For these destinations Avianca will use a fleet of Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft, with capacity for 120 and 150 passengers respectively.

Avianca reported that this itinerary is subject to changes in origin, date and time due to government restrictions and indicated that other destinations will join the route network to the extent that air operations are enabled.
“Our reason for being and our commitment is to connect families, dreams, businesses and contribute to the reactivation of tourism and the economy of the region. We are very close to opening our wings again in Central America and that excites us a lot because when Avianca flies, we all fly. For this stage, we have prepared and implemented strict biosecurity protocols, which allow us to guarantee our passengers a safer trip, ”said David Alemán, Avianca’s General Director for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean in a statement.
The airline noted that during this time of pandemic, Avianca has been working on biosecurity protocols with the highest standards to give the passenger the confidence necessary to fly again. These protocols were successfully implemented in more than 330 special flights in which more than 34,380 people have been transported. In this sense, the airline reminded its customers of the importance of following the following recommendations:
* Use digital tools (customer service channels, purchase, web check-in, between
others), to minimize direct contact between people, lines and crowds.
* Respect social distancing in boarding rooms and during queues.
entry to the plane.
* Wear the mask throughout the experience: from leaving home, in the
* airport, on the plane and until arrival at the final destination.
* Please arrive 3 hours in advance of international flights, as security and distancing measures will increase the times of entry to the airport, lounges and planes.
* Constantly wash your hands, carry and use antibacterial products.

Avianca also reiterated that an airplane is one of the safest spaces in which a person can be, since it acts in a very similar way to a surgical room by having filters that ensure air circulation. These filters capture 99.97% of airborne microbes. Furthermore, the cabin air system delivers approximately 50% outside air and 50% filtered and recirculated air, which means that the supplied air is essentially sterile.
