In the August holidays there was a reduction in deaths, according to the preliminary report of the emergencies attended by the National Civil Protection System.
“We have had some numbers that unfortunately are not what we expected, I think we have fewer deaths, if we suddenly see all the deaths and make a comparison with last year, I would say we have had positive results,” said the director of Protection Civil, Luis Amaya.
In addition, he pointed out that last year during the August holidays there were 35 deaths in traffic accidents, by 2023 during the same period 22 were registered.
He also said that they carried out 28 aquatic rescues, on the beaches that were being monitored by the Civil Protection Lifeguard Unit, in total there were 49 rescues, last year there were 84.
