Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Indonesia has just passed a long holiday from taking leave together and commemorating the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. This long holiday actually made Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati worried.
Sri Mulyani said that the long holiday from 28-31 October 2020 has the potential to cause cases of corona virus infection or covid-19 to increase, if the public is not careful and does not heed health protocols.
“After the long holiday, we are worried. We hope that people who take long holidays will continue to discipline health protocols. Otherwise, there will be numbers [penularan] Covid-19 is up, “said Sri Mulyani as a speaker at the 2020 Bodjong Festival virtually, Sunday (1/11/2020).
The reason is, he said, if the cases of Covid-19 transmission increase, it will worsen the economy and social conditions in Indonesia. This means that the government must take emergency brakes to return to dealing with covid-19 and restore the national economy.
“Then we have to take steps to brake again, and that means it will have a negative impact on the economy and society,” he said.
“The impact of the spread of COVID is so fast and deadly that all countries must take steps, steps to secure and save people, society,”
Sri Mulyani hopes that all parties will help the community to be safe from Covid-19 by implementing a disciplined health protocol. Because if people do not adhere to health protocols, the economy will certainly find it difficult to recover.
Jasa Marga noted that during the period 27-28 October, 336,929 vehicles left Jakarta. Meanwhile, for other land routes, namely by train, there has been a rapid increase in the number of passengers.
Head of Public Relations of PT KAI Daop 1 Eva Chairunisa explained to CNBC Indonesia on Tuesday (27/10/2020), when compared to last week’s weekend, the average passenger volume ranged from 2,700 to 2,800 passengers per day.
Then, compared to October 27-28, which is the start of a public holiday or a long holiday, the number of passengers reaches 9,000 to 9,5000 passengers per day.
The increase in mobility out of Jakarta needs to be watched out for and taken into account. Long holidays are usually used by many people for tourism. The Covid-19 epidemic that has not been completely tamed has the potential to rise again and create new clusters.
