Merdeka.com – 268 residents of Tangerang Regency were recorded to be infected with the Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) virus from January to September 2021. This number is far lower than the same period before the Covid-19 pandemic which reached 1,000 cases.
The Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the Tangerang District Health Office, Hendra Tarmizi, said the number of dengue fever sufferers in the Tangerang Regency area in 2021 was much lower, compared to previous years.
“There are 268 dengue fever cases, currently it’s actually much lower than before the Covid-19 case, which was above 1,000 cases in a year,” said Hendra Tarmizi, Thursday (21/10).
He detailed that until the third week of October 2021, four residents of Tangerang Regency were recorded to be infected with the disease carried by the Aedes Aegipty mosquito.
“For October, there are still several reports that have come in, there are four that have come in. But we haven’t verified it yet,” he explained.
For the distribution itself, he said that the areas of Curug, Legok, Panongan and Thursday markets dominated the spread of dengue fever in the Tangerang Regency area. With the number of pediatric patients, the most dominating.
“The largest areas are Curug, Legok, Panongan, and Pasar Kemis. Most of them are children but there are also adults. Children make up approximately 60 percent of the cases,” he said.
For this reason, he asked the people in the Tangerang Regency area to always pay attention to the cleanliness of their homes and surroundings. By routinely doing 3M (closing, draining and burying) puddles and water reservoirs.
“We have distributed alert letters to all health centers and hospitals for this extraordinary occurrence of dengue fever. So we have to prepare infrastructure for this at the hospital,” he concluded. [fik]
