Nine Southwestern departments have been placed on orange alert for thunderstorms for Monday's day, says
Meteo France.

Heavy rain, hail and strong wind gusts

In Occitania, this storm warning concerns the departments of Ariège, Haute-Garonne, Gers, Hautes-Pyrénées, Tarn and Tarn-et-Garonne.

For New Aquitaine, Météo France added in its 16h bulletin two departments, the Landes and Lot-et-Garonne, Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

Monday, mid-afternoon, the storms on the Pyrénées-Atlantiques "win further north, extending to the south of the Landes and Gers," said the operator. Rainfall "of 10 and 15 mm in one hour" was recorded on the Pyrénées-Atlantiques "sometimes with hail". West of Foix, Ariège, a gust of wind was measured at 107 km / h.

"Thunderstorms that have developed on the Pyrenean departments will progress to the north-east temporarily overflowing on the south of Aquitaine by the next night", provides
Meteo France. These storms will be locally violent with sustained electrical activity and intense rainfall of up to 20 to 40 mm, or locally more than 50 mm in a short time.

They can also be accompanied by hail and gusts of wind between 80 and 100 km / h. These violent storms are likely to cause significant damage locally. This episode should end this Monday at midnight.
