KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. Optimizing digital services, PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (BMRI) has a plan to reduce its branch office services. This year, the target is that 72 branches will be closed.
“From the evaluation of the branch network, where its functions will be transferred to ATM / CRM, EDC, including digital services and branchless banking, this year we plan to reduce 72 branch offices, “said Aquarius Rudianto, Director of Business and Networks of Bank Mandiri to Kontan.co.id, Monday (14/9).
With this closure, by the end of the year the company will have 2,511 branch offices. As for the first semester of 2020, the bank with the gold ribbon logo is recorded to still have 2,564 branch offices, including 933 micro branch offices.
Apart from the matter of optimizing digital services, the closure of a branch office called Aquarius was also carried out as a step to transfer assets in Aceh to its subsidiary, namely PT Bank Mandiri Syariah.
“The branch closure is also part of the transfer of assets to Mandiri Syariah in the context of implementing the Qanun for Sharia Financial Institutions in Aceh,” he continued.
Even though it is closed, Aquarius ensures that the company’s customers will have no trouble getting services, because the portfolio to branch employees who are closed will be transferred to the nearest branch.
