Baden-Württemberg as well as Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft and other border cantons are in favor of a coordinated approach during the Corona crisis.
Border traffic between Switzerland and Germany should remain open in the second wave of the corona pandemic. The seven border cantons and the German state of Baden-Württemberg are campaigning for this. The cooperation in the fight against corona should be strengthened.
The common goal is to learn from the experiences of the first wave and to promote a coordinated and targeted approach in the border region. This is in a joint declaration by the state of Baden-Württemberg and the cantons of Aargau, Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft, Schaffhausen, St. Gallen as well as Thurgau and Zurich.
A delegation from the border cantons met with Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) online for a working meeting on Friday. The head of the delegation on the Swiss side was the Aargau Economics Director Urs Hofmann (SP), as the Aargau State Chancellery also announced.

“For the border region between Germany and Switzerland, the corona pandemic poses special challenges that we as cross-border partners can only master together,” the statement continues.
The national governments and the European Union should enable the cross-border compatibility of the Corona warning app in Germany and Switzerland. The aim is to promote the importance of the exchange of information and the cross-border tracking of infection chains for fighting pandemics.
