Tragic, English Teacher Raped and Killed While Climbing Mountain Alone

TBILISI, – An English teacher was raped and then murdered in Georgia, the former Soviet Union. The body of a woman from Melbourne, Australia, named Shanae Brooke (31) was found on Saturday last week on Mount Mtatsminda.

He has worked in Georgia for a long time, teaching English in Batumi, a city on the Black Sea. Tragically, Brooke was talking on the phone with her friend in California, United States (US), when she was harassed.

“Get your hands off me,” said Brooke’s colleague, imitating the victim’s statement, as reported by the Daily Star, Monday (2/8/2021).

Other reports say Brooke also said on the phone, “Please let me go. Don’t bother me.”

After that conversation the phone was disconnected and Brooke could not be reached again.

Feeling something was wrong, Brooke’s colleagues contacted friends in Georgia who then proceeded to make a report to the police.

“As a result of several hours of intensive search and investigation, officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs found the body of a woman on the slopes of Mtatsminda,” the statement said.
