Trump should not receive intelligence – VG

US President Joe Biden will take from his predecessor Donald Trump the opportunity to receive updates with intelligence information.

In modern times, former US presidents have been given intelligence and access to classified information, in order to continue their work to advance American interests. This has been a way for the new president to show respect to his predecessor.

Joe Biden believes that Donald Trump does not deserve this advantage. He says this in an interview with “CBS Evening News With Norah O’Donnell” according to Washington Post.

The newspaper writes that Biden believes that Donald Trump should not receive intelligence information “because of his erratic behavior”. Biden emphasizes that this is not related to the attack on Congress on 6 January.

– I mean he has no need to get updates with intelligence. What value does it give him? What effect does he really have, other than that he might talk to himself and say something ?, says Biden.

– You called him a threat. You have called him dangerous and ruthless, says O’Donnell in the interview.

– Yes, I have, and I mean it.

Earlier this week, Biden’s press secretary Jen Psaki confirmed that they were not considering giving Trump access to intelligence. She did point out, however, that no decision has been made.

– Under no circumstances is it necessary for Trump to receive updates with intelligence. I think he can not be trusted with it now, or in the future, the top democrat Adam Schiff has stated to CBS.

Former FBI Director James Comey, who has been critical of Donald Trump several times, also believes the former president should not receive intelligence updates.

– You can not trust him. You have to be very, very careful about what you give him. I hope he is deprived of these updates, he says ABC.

Despite The New Yorker has claimed that Trump himself deprived his predecessor, Barack Obama, of access to this information, Trump went according to Washington Post in 2018 out and denied this.
