Unit alphabet to make drone deliveries to Walgreens, FedEx in the United States.

(Reuters) – Aviation wing unit said Alphabet Inc. on Thursday that it is partnered with Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. and FedEx Corp to deliver direct deliveries to houses in Virginia using drones, starting next month.

Earlier in April, Wing received approval to start using drone in the state, making it the first company to have received U.S air carrier certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

In January, the FAA recommended rules that would allow drones to work across population areas and eliminate a requirement for night use permits.

Wing already provided commercial air deliveries in Canberra, Australia and Helsinki, Finland.
