Valve’s new Index VR headphones have been out of stock for weeks, but the company has just informed customers that the product will finally go on sale again on Monday March 9, starting at 1:00 pm ET. Here is the index product page if you want to bookmark it for Monday, but you should be aware that the stock may be limited.
“We expect that available stocks will run out on Monday due to high demand, so all purchases made beyond this initial quantity will be honored in the order they are received, as supplies increase in the coming months,” the company said in a note Given a The Verge.
Here is the email Valve shared with customers:
On Monday the Valve index will be back in stock (in very limited quantities) … The first days of the amiibo seem new, but more expensive. pic.twitter.com/4BC3md1oLI

For $ 999, Valve will sell you the headset, two controllers, two laser emitting base stations and a free copy of Half-Life: Alyx, which will be launched on Monday 23 March. Valve also offers a $ 749 configuration without base stations and a $ 499 configuration without base stations or controllers, although both come with a copy of Half-Life: Alyx.
In her review of the Index, my colleague Adi Robertson found that it was comfortable, had good resolution and a fantastic field of view and controller, but questioned how the system is still connected to a PC and found uncomfortable base stations. But if you want to play the latest Valve game on Valve hardware – and you’re looking for a high-end VR headset, it looks like next Monday will be your best shot for getting the Index in the near future.
