The convention in question organizes the procedure for dealing with conflicts when they arise. In this case, the dispute here concerned the redevelopment of the bus and metro booths in Tirou and Gilly-Soleimont, following the work in progress in Charleroi-Sud. As we announced to you on Monday, the Charleroi metro will no longer serve Gare du Sud for many months.
To resolve the problem, a local consultation meeting, by videoconference, had therefore been scheduled for Wednesday between the union and management.
The CGSP had planned to be represented there by its main delegate, in charge of the booths. But, he was not released by the management of TEC Charleroi, because the union’s request was too late. “It is true that we were not within the 48 hour deadline provided for in the agreement. But the meeting in question was not to go on forever. And did not require its replacement, ”explains Serge Delchambre, secretary general of the CGSP.
The local consultation meeting therefore did not take place. From where this movement of bad mood… and the paralysis announced on the whole TEC network, as well the lines of bus as those of the subway, for the day of Thursday.
“This is the first time since this convention has existed that dialogue has not been possible,” says Serge Delchambre. Fortunately, it should be quickly reconnected. Management and unions should meet again very soon. Maybe even this Thursday. But too late to defuse the moody movement …
