Liverpool packed a 4-3 victory over Leeds in a match that took place at Anfield Stadium, Saturday (12/09/2020).
Despite coming out as winners, Liverpool had to struggle to win because Leeds managed to equalize three times.
One of the moments in the spotlight was when Leeds equalized 2-2 in the 30th minute.
Virgil van Dijk, who scored for Liverpool’s 2-1 lead in the 10th minute, made a blunder that resulted in a goal for Leeds.
The Dutch defender was too relaxed in blocking the ball near the penalty box so that Patrick Bamford was used to score a goal.
Virgil van Dijk was then criticized by the Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher.
The former center-back who led Liverpool to the 2004-2005 Champions League winnings Van Dijk too arrogant in the fight.
Van Dijk did not bother with the criticism. According to him, things like that often happen in the field.
“It is something that can happen at any time,” said Virgil van Dijk as quoted from Mirror.
“I always try to do my best and that’s what I did. Unfortunately, a goal came, but I’m not worried about that.”
“Nobody wants to concede, but the match was very intense for both teams.”
“The points are very big. They (Leeds) will trouble a lot of teams in the league. So I think it’s good we can get three points. However, we still have a lot to improve,” explained Virgil van Dijk.
Furthermore, Liverpool will travel to Chelsea headquarters this weekend.
The duel between Liverpool and Chelsea will take place at Stamford Bridge Stadium, Sunday (20/09/2020).
