More than half of the population suffers from vitamin D deficiency. Many of them do not even know it. Others find blood tests that determine the level of vitamin D in the blood.
But one thing is certain. Many people consume, on the doctor’s recommendation or not, vitamin D supplements. But they are not effective without magnesium, says nutritionist Mihaela Bilic.
“More than half of the world’s population has a shortage of animals. D. Until now it has been known as a poor diet of animals. D and insufficient exposure to sunlight cause this deficiency. Recent studies have revealed another aspect : Vitamin D is not used optimally if magnesium levels are low.
In vain we take supplements, we risk our lives. D must be stored in the body instead of used efficiently. The best intake of magnesium is 420 mg / day for men and 320 mg / day for women. Unfortunately, the modern diet does not cover even half of the recommended dose, so a little vitamin D circulating in the blood will be incompletely used without magnesium.
Magnesium deficiency is a recent nutritional imbalance and has several causes.
Changing eating habits, refined foods, ultra-processed products and poor micro-nutrients are the main causes. In the daily diet we find smaller and fewer products such as beans or lentils, nuts or nuts, bran or whole grains. Even the banana, which is rich in magnesium, was placed in the corner for the sake of the silhouette.
Chronic stress and insufficient sleep, poor quality, increase the need for magnesium. The alert and unbalanced lifestyle affects the nervous system and quickly decreases the micronutrient supply. This is added to alcohol consumption which disrupts the basic acid balance and promotes urinary loss of magnesium. Chronic diseases such as diabetes and metabolic syndrome X, high blood pressure and high cholesterol consume magnesium. With drug and antibiotic treatment, diuretics and antacids have as a side effect a massive elimination of magnesium.
It is worth sounding the alarm for magnesium, a mineral essential for the optimal functioning of the body. It is involved in more than 300 mechanisms responsible for metabolism and is essential for the activation of vitamin D. Without magnesium, the nervous system loses its balance, bones and teeth lose strength and muscles cannot function. Muscle contraction depends on magnesium, and the activity of the heart and blood pressure are influenced by its level in the blood.
The human body cannot synthesize magnesium, so it must carry out food. What are the best sources? In the first place we have seeds and oily seeds: pumpkin seeds, almonds, cashew bread, hazelnuts. Then come vegetables: beans, soybeans, lentils, chickpeas and chinoa. Among the vegetables, spinach deserves praise, and in the fruit sector, the banana is the champion. As for supplements, choose organic magnesium salt, in doses between 100 and 250 mg / day, “explained Mihaela Bilic on Facebook.
