The fourth edition of the Som Cultura festival will be incorporated literary routes and mystery games to discover the cultural heritage of the counties of Girona. During the weekends of November, forty-six cultural proposals will be offered, among which there are tours to know the work of authors such as Víctor Català or Josep Pla with the participation of actors such as Estel Solé or Marc Martínez; gymcans or getaway games and also inclusive activities, such as guided tours of the Palamós Fishing Museum or the Olot Museum.
Som Cultura, a promotional campaign promoted by the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board, collects some forty activities in four thematic blocks –literary routes; Mystery games to discover the heritage; guided tours and, finally, inclusive activities– offered by the entities and companies associated to the Culture and Identity Marketing Club of the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board.
We Culture 2019 has structured the proposals geographically: on November 2 and 3, the program is concentrated in the counties of Ripollès and Cerdanya; On November 9 and 10, the counties of Alt Empordà and Baix Empordà will host the activities; On November 16 and 17, the counties of Gironès and La Selva will take over, and on November 24 and 25, the festival will be closed to the Garrotxa and Pla de l'Estany.
One of the innovations this year is the literary routes to know the spaces that have been a source of inspiration for writers and poets. With the will to make this legacy worthwhile, the festival Som Cultura organizes in this edition a cycle of literary routes for land in Girona that will include prominent authors such as Josep Pla, Victor Català, Ramon Muntaner or Walter Benjamin, others. Some of these activities will also include the participation of actors such as Marc Martínez, Estel Solé or Ernest Villegas, who will give a theatrical reading of the texts that are read during the route. Likewise, the proposals will allow you to discover outstanding areas of the Girona heritage, such as the gardens of Cap Roig, in Calella de Palafrugell, or the Memorial Passatges de Portbou, dedicated to Walter Benjamin.
On the other hand, with the desire to offer original proposals to discover the heritage, Som Cultura proposes a new cycle to know museums or fortresses of the counties of Girona in a fun and entertaining way from mystery games, gymcans or getaway games. In total, there are eight sessions, including Escape Bunker Roses, in which the participants will have 40 minutes to leave the bunker of the castle of the Trinidad de Roses; Mystery crime in the Garriga mansion, a theatrical visit to the Museu del Mar in Lloret de Mar, aimed at an adult audience, consisting of several sets of tracks that allow discovering a murderer; o Jewelry hunters, a proposal for all audiences that includes a geocerca activity with breakfast included during a visit to the DOR Museum and Espai Quim Hereu, in the fortress of Sant Julià de Ramis.
The program presents inclusive activities for Approaching culture to groups of people with disabilities. A new visit to the Palamós Fishing Museum, entitled A l'art, is worthy of mention, everyone is part of it. Accessible and inclusive visit to the Fishing Museum. The proposal will allow all spectators to approach the collection of this cultural center, taste seafood, play fishing gear or listen to fishing boats. The Olot Museum also has a guided tour that will allow visitors to play some of the works in this cultural space.
Reprogramming of activities
Some of the most successful proposals of the last editions of Som Cultura are reprogrammed in order to offer them to new audiences. Among these proposals stands out the guided tour that allows discover the childhood of the painter Salvador Dalí in Figueres and jointly organize the museums of the city: Dalí Theater-Museum, Toy Museum of Catalonia and the Empordà Museum. The proposal includes the visit to the three cultural spaces and, this year as a novelty, will end with a tasting of three wines offered by the DO Empordà Wine Route and the Regulatory Council of the DO Empordà.
Of the proposals that are programmed again in this fourth edition, the reissue of the proposal also stands out the Museums go out on the street, which will celebrate its third edition within Som Cultura. This activity brings together fifteen facilities of the Network of Museums of the Counties of Girona, which will program children's workshops throughout the morning. In this edition, the proposal will take place in Ripoll and, as a novelty, it will include a free play area for children as well as the performance of Little Testa, who presents his show of circ 4×4 Show.
Finally, on November 23, the municipality of Hostalric will host the photographic competition of Instagram #instaSomCultura, which will be a guided tour of the Fortress, the space of the old castle of the Cabrera.
