“We don’t teach in clubs, but Canadians are trained. To make links, to physically prepare – it takes time, ”Tretiak reports about long training camps – Ice Hockey

Vladislav Tretyak answered whether the Russian national team needs long training camps before the tournaments.

The national team began preparations for the Olympics in mid-January. The team played their first match in Beijing on February 9.

In the final, the Russian team lost to the Finnish team (1:2).

– The team gathered in mid-January, there were long training camps both in Novogorsk and Beijing. How much such lengthy preparation is generally needed? A striking example is when Canadians come to the World Cup without such fees and win it.

– Canadians are trained in clubs. Our clubs have to work with players, but they are not trained there.

Look, out of ten scorers in the KHL, two or three are only Russians from year to year. A player must come to the national team with the ability to clearly carry out the task, which is why he is a professional.

Coaches, on the other hand, must correctly compose the links, physically prepare, which takes time.

It is necessary to bring to the final to have enough strength, to work out the game in the majority. Training should be both in the club and in those two or three weeks in the national team, – said the president of the FHR.

Russia urgently needs to rethink preparations for top tournaments. The current format slows down our hockey
