Weekend weather: Authorities are worried by the sun

Dspring still has no corona crisis. At the weekend, the beautiful weather continues with plenty of sun and mild temperatures. While some clouds still cloud the sky on Saturday, the German Weather Service (DWD) expects a lot of sun and hardly any clouds for Sunday. Due to the nationwide block of contacts due to the corona virus, the authorities fear that the nice weather will still pull many people outside.

In this context, the police in Frankfurt emphasized in a press release that, together with the regulatory authorities, they would pay greater attention to compliance with the contact rules and that violations would be punished consistently. As a precaution, the police in the Rheingau cordon off access to some sights such as Eberbach Abbey, Vollrads and Johannisberg castles and the Niederwald monument. The public parking spaces between Rüdesheim and Walluf will also be closed until Sunday evening. North Rhine-Westphalia’s Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) also appealed to the population to avoid popular excursion destinations. “Not everyone should go where everyone is going,” he said – for example in Cologne and Düsseldorf on the Rhine.

For Saturday, the DWD meteorologists are expecting maximums between 11 and 15 degrees for Saturday, and temperatures on the Upper Rhine could even climb to 17 degrees. During the night to Sunday the temperatures drop to 5 to -1 degrees in the north-west and 4 to -2 degrees in the south-east with light cloud cover in the north. For Sunday the weather service predicts hardly any clouds and a lot of sun. The maximum values range between 14 and 19 degrees and can even break the 20-degree mark in the southwest. The night to Monday is usually clear and dry at temperatures between 4 and -2 degrees.

In order to curb the spread of the corona virus, the federal and state governments decided on Wednesday to extend the restrictions beyond Easter. Until April 19, it is therefore still not permitted to be in public places with more than two people who do not belong to your own household. In their decision, the federal and state governments also explicitly referred to refrain from private travel and visits. “This also applies in Germany and for national day-trip excursions,” says the decision.
