What would permanent app tracking actually mean in your own everyday life? Apple is trying to answer this question in a new video and takes a humorous approach. The aim here is of course to advertise its new app tracking transparency feature, for which the company recently received so much criticism and praise.
If app tracking were visible in our everyday lives, what would it look like? Maybe we would order a coffee, then take a taxi away and then have the coffee seller and taxi driver and other people on our backs for the rest of the day, all of whom cheerfully exchanged data about us.
This is the setting that Apple is building with a new, rather fun video that tries to show what app tracking actually means. And then of course there is only one solution in Apple’s reading: The iPhone’s app tracking transparency.
Apple tries humor
This is not the first video Apple has released on the subject. Immediately after the release of iOS 14.7, Apple tried to demonstrate in a clip what app tracking is and how the new transparency feature works, but this clip was rather instructive.
The advertising industry has recently been taking a storm against Apple’s new feature, as it sees its revenue under iOS threatened – and not without reason, it looks like. Few users seem willing to allow app tracking on iOS when asked.
