The legend SV Werder Bremen died on June 22 at the age of 79, the 1974 World Champion is considered one of Bremen’s greatest footballers. Due to his solid gameplay he earned himself Horst-Dieter Höttges once had the nickname “Eisenfuss” and remained closely connected with the club even after his active career. “Werder was like a second family for Horst,” said the club president Hubertus Hess-Grunewald recently highlighted during Höttges funeral in Achim. “As a person, he stands for the positive of the past.” The Werder professionals will also set an example during the opening game and Trauerflor refused the meeting.
