Meanwhile, Barcelona is dominant with 13 attempts, four times right on target. However, Barcelona struggled to create golden opportunities and Atletico were even able to score one goal late in the first half through Carrasco.
The goal secured Atletico’s three points and they have now moved up to second in the Spanish League standings with 20 points from eight matches. Atletico are three points ahead of Real Madrid as the defending champions in fourth place.

Atletico appeared without Luis Suarez who was exposed to COVID-19, playing Angel Correa and Joao Felix as attackers. Koke, Saul Niguez and Marcos Llorente became a mainstay in midfield.
Meanwhile, Barcelona played Antoine Griezmann, Lionel Messi, Ousmane Dembele, and Pedri. Barcelona were indeed given possession of the ball by Atletico, but they were not allowed to enter the penalty box.
Barcelona created no golden opportunity during the first half. They conceded a goal in the third minute of first-half injury time when Atletico’s quick counter-attack broke through the defense.
Correa saw Yannick Carascao have room to run and provide the through ball. After facing Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Carascao first rolled the ball between his legs, before kicking it into the empty net.

Score 1-0 for Atletico lasted until halftime. Behind one goal made Atletico even more eager to catch up in the second half. The visitors’ best chance came in the 58th minute when Clement Lenglet’s header in front of goal was still on Jan Oblak’s catch.
Barcelona then played Philippe Coutinho to increase the power of their punches. However, several experimental trials still failed to produce results.
In the 82nd minute, Griezmann has the chance to find his former team’s net, as the ball heads towards goal. However, Oblak swiftly brushed it off.
There were no more goals created so Atletico continued to win 1-0.
