The draw for the final stage of the African qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup, scheduled in Qatar this year, which took place yesterday in the Cameroonian city of Douala on the sidelines of the African Nations Cup, currently held in Cameroon, resulted in difficult confrontations for the teams of Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia, while the Moroccan team was balanced.
The Egyptian team was drawn against its Senegalese counterpart, to witness an expected confrontation between Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, players of the Liverpool team. The Algerian team will also meet with the Cameroon team, while the Moroccan team will face its Congolese counterpart, Tunisia will meet with the Malian team in a renewed confrontation between them, while Ghana will play with the Nigerian team.
The ten teams qualified for the final stage were divided into two levels, based on the international classification of teams issued by the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA), with 5 teams in each level, with each team from the first level meeting with one of the teams of the second level in two matches, back and forth. From March 24 to 29, 5 teams representing the continent will eventually qualify for the World Cup.
During the draw, the first-level teams, which included Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria and Nigeria, were placed in one pot, while the other pot included the second-level teams, which included Egypt, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Ghana and Mali.
