Almost four months after landing in Espanyol with a significant bony left shoulder, Wu Lei will finally go to the operating room this Thursday. The Chinese attacker, who suffered an injury in this area during his participation in the Asian Cup last January, received approval from the club's doctors to continue competing despite having a visible bony on his shoulder. The player will be affected by a III-IV grade injury in the acromioclavicular joint of the left shoulder that will require surgery to recover completely.
Wu suffered a second degree pathology in the left acromioclavicular joint, which, however, did not prevent him from continuing to compete with his selection. When he came to the white-and-blue set, his medical condition was valued and it was determined that he could continue playing normally. Wu Lei became a regular player in the eleventh since he debuted with Espanyol, in Villarreal, in front of the local team.
At the end of April, in the game against Celta, in an unexpected fall, the forward felt a certain instability in the left shoulder and was subjected to a new test. The diagnosis required that, from that moment on, the shoulder condition could cause discomfort in a continuous manner.
The same player expressed his desire to continue competing until the end of the championship taking into account the relevance of the remaining three games and at the sporting level, it was also studied and evaluated all that Wu Lei could continue to bring to the team. From that moment on, the Chinese striker began a specific job from a medical point of view as well as physiotherapy with the club's professionals, which allowed him to complete the season and play a leading role in the final straight.
In the last hours, through the Mutua Montañesa, the club has sought the opinion of different surgeons who are experts in this type of illness, who have finally decided that the intervention will take place this Thursday at the Dexeus University Hospital of Barcelona . The striker will stay a couple of days in the hospital before returning home and begin the rehabilitation process. In principle, Wu Lei is expected to be able to participate in the first qualifying round of the Europa League, which will be played in the last week of July.
