LONDON — In a stark illustration of the heavy toll Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is exacting on its military, the United Kingdom defense ministry has estimated that the Kremlin’s forces have lost over 3,600 vehicles, including armored vehicles and tanks.
The UK ministry, in its latest intelligence update, revealed that Russia’s invasive campaign has strained its forces significantly, with losses surpassing those sustained in any conflict since World War II.
"The sheer scale of Russia’s losses, both in personnel and equipment, attests to the prowess and resilience of the Ukrainian military," said a spokesperson from the ministry.
The estimate includes over 1,000 tanks, 2,200 armored fighting vehicles, and 110 aircraft, as of early April 2023. These figures are expected to rise as the conflict persists.
