In a significant shift in Norway’s media landscape, two esteemed journalists, Øystein Kristoffersen and Eivind Gilbrant, have bid farewell to Dagbladet to join Nettavisen. Both journalists have expressed their excitement about the move, envisioning a future where Nettavisen will set the standard for political reporting in Norway.

Kristoffersen, who has long been an avid advocate for Nettavisen’s philosophy, sees the opportunity to join the digital publication as a chance to challenge norms and box "from the outside and within." He told Nettavisen, "I’m very happy to join Dagbladet, but it’s time for something new. Nettavisen wants to be on the side of the man in the street, not afraid to be contrary. I look forward to being part of this obviously strong team to create the best and sharpest political coverage in Norway."

Gilbrant, who has spent his entire professional career at Dagbladet, acknowledged that leaving was a difficult decision. "I’ll miss my colleagues and the view," he said. "But working in Oslo’s city center again, in a newspaper I’ve long admired, felt like the right time for something new."

The dynamic duo, who co-authored the controversial and much-talked-about political exposé "Partiet," are expected to begin their new roles at Nettavisen during the first half of 2025. Their addition is hailed by Nettavisen’s head editor, Gunnar Stavrum, who believes they will fortify the publication’s political editorial team, already renowned for its rigorous journalism and insightful analysis.

Although their recent book faced criticism due to its use of anonymous sources and allegations of factual errors, Kristoffersen and Gilbrant were recently awarded the prestigious Subjektprisen for literature, underscoring their influence and impact on Norwegian political discourse.

As Nettavisen welcomes these two heavyweights, the Norwegian media scene braces for a shake-up, with both journalists promising to redefine political reporting in the country.
