Patricia Bullrich Condemns Victoria Villarruel‘s Remarks on Gendarmerie Officer’s Detention in Venezuela
The ongoing tension between Argentina’s Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, and Vice President, Victoria Villarruel, escalated further over the weekend, with Bullrich lambasting Villarruel’s comments regarding the detention of a Argentine gendarmerie officer in Venezuela.
Villarruel had previously attributed the gendarme’s capture to Bullrich’s policies. However, in a strongly worded response, Bullrich dismissed Villarruel’s statement as “a cowardly attack, a complete lack of perspective”.
“The whole country is concerned about a gendarmerie officer who was kidnapped by the criminal, fascist, and murderous regime of Maduro’s Chavismo. He was there to visit his son and girlfriend when he was abducted. The focus should be on his rescue. And Villarruel chooses to discuss something completely inappropriate at this time?” Bullrich stated during an interview with radio Rivadavia.
The Minister of Security slammed Villarruel for not prioritizing the critical issue at hand and instead choosing to “get bogged down in trivial matters”. Bullrich emphasized the urgency of the situation and the need for unity, saying, “We, as those responsible, should be holding hands together, not engaging in petty squabbles at a time like this.”
“It was an unspeakable act, one I never expected. Villarruel should have called me and asked, ‘Patricia, how can I help?’. She did not do that. Instead, she chose to lash out in a cowardly manner,” Bullrich concluded her statement.
