In an urgent response to the threat of dengue virus infections (IVD), the local government of Gedangan Village, Mojowarno District, Jombang, has swiftly organized a unified mosquito larvae eradication campaign, known as PSN (Pemberantasan Sarang Nyamuk), involving various stakeholders. The collaborative initiative, held on Tuesday, December 17, was welcomed positively by the villagers.

The PSN campaign was a joint effort involving the Forum Koordinasi Pimpinan Kecamatan (Forkopimcam) Mojowarno, Mojowarno Puskesmas, Petugas Lapangan Keluarga Berencana (PLKB) Mojowarno, and all existing Jumantik (Jentik Monitoring) cadre and Posyandu (Integrated Health Service Posts) in Desa Gedangan. The event aimed to address the potential increase in dengue cases due to extreme weather changes.

Activities undertaken during the campaign included inspecting residents’ water storage areas for mosquito breeding sites and draining water to eliminate larvae, as well as mobilizing residents to clean up their surroundings. This comprehensive approach strengthens the overall effort in controlling the dengue virus.

Desa Gedangan’s head, Sukarno, emphasized that the unified PSN campaign is a monthly routine in the village. "We have Jumantik and Posyandu cadre in all the dusuns (villages) within our jurisdiction," he noted.

To support the campaign, the Gedangan village administration allocated funds from its village budget (Anggaran Dana Desa – ADD) towards PSN activities. Sukarno highlighted that the unified effort is a manifestation of collective responsibility and solidarity in ensuring public health. He urged residents to maintain a clean environment continuously to prevent future dengue outbreaks.

The successful implementation of this PSN campaign serves as a reminder that collective action and community participation are essential in combating public health threats like dengue fever. By working together, Jombang’s residents and local authorities can create a healthier and safer environment for all.
