Headline: Ukraine by November, Claims Boudanov”>Russia’s Ministry of Defense Misreporting Ukrainian Occupation: ISW Analysts React
Article:
American open-source intelligence (OSINT) observers have not corroborated the strange claims of Russia’s Ministry of Defense, fueling speculation that the occupying country’s military department may have made a mistake. The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has dismissed claims that Russians have occupied Lozova, a town in the Kharkiv Oblast, stating that there is no evidence to support this assertion.
In a recent update, ISW wrote, "Russian claims about occupying Lozova remain unconfirmed and likely false." This claim by the Russian Ministry of Defense appears to be the latest in a series of exaggerated and inaccurate statements about their military’s progress in Ukraine.
While there has been some limited Russian advancement on the Kupiansk direction, particularly in southeastern Dvurechnaya (northeast of Kupiansk), other Russian claims are uncorroborated. ISW analysts have confirmed that Ukrainian forces are effectively repelling Russian attacks, as evidenced by geolocated footage from December 22 showing Ukrainian troops fending off Russian mechanized assault personnel near Synkiivka, north-northeast of Kupiansk.
ISW analysts refuted information from pro-Russian Z-bloggers suggesting that Russian forces have advanced east of Zagrysovo and Kruklyaky (both southeast of Kupiansk). Meanwhile, the claim that Russians have occupied Lozova seems particularly strange, as this town is located deep in Ukrainian territory and has never been captured by Russian forces.
Earlier reports from the Information Resistance group indicated that Ukrainian forces are withdrawing from Dvurechna in eastern Kharkiv Oblast. Dialog.UA previously reported that Russian occupants have likely entrenched themselves on the outskirts of Dvurechna, citing Konstantin Matsiyets.
As the war in Ukraine continues, readers are urged to verify information from official sources and reputable news outlets to ensure they are receiving accurate and reliable updates.
