Danish Leader Mette Frederiksen‘s New ‘Do’ Catches Attention Across Scandinavia
Article:
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s decision to swap her signature bun for loose locks has sent waves through not just Denmark, but the entire Nordic region. The new look, which some have likened to a freestyle "mullet," has sparked broad media coverage and mixed reactions.
While some have praised Frederiksen’s new hairstyle as "freed and funky," others have seen it as a cooler version of the ’80s "mullet" or "hockey haircut." The change has been so significant that it has even made headlines outside Denmark, earning the prime minister both praise and criticism.
Frederiksen, however, has been unfazed by the attention. She initially dismissed the furor surrounding her new hairstyle, telling Ekstra Bladet that she simply felt like a change.
But now, in a more in-depth interview with BT via Euroman, Frederiksen shares a deeper reason behind her hair transformation. She reveals that she suffers from what she calls "skandinavisk hår" – a term that translates to "levitseifar and thin hair."
"I’ve lost a lot of hair during the coronavirus period," she says. "So much that I couldn’t keep it loose. But now, it’s starting to grow back."
Frederiksen’s openness about her hair loss journey might have been surprising, but it also humanizes the leader, offering a glimpse into a personal struggle amidst her public role. As for her new hairstyle, it seems Frederiksen is embracing it, no matter the attention.
