In a ceremony held at the Casa de Gobierno’s Salón Blanco, the San Luis provincial government gained a fresh perspective with the inauguration of two new ministers, adding a federal touch to the cabinet. Juan Álvarez Pinto, from the Villa de Merlo in the north, took over the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, while Gonzalo Amondarain, hailing from Buena Esperanza in the south, assumed the Ministry of Government.
Governor Claudio Poggi hailed the appointments, stating that the new ministers bring a regional perspective that will enrich the government’s decision-making process. "One from the south and one from the north," Poggi observed. "They have a regional view that will complement our provincial gaze, helping us make better-informed decisions."
The ceremony marked a significant moment for Poggi, who paid tribute to outgoing minister Facundo Endeiza, with whom he previously competed in elections and later formed the Avanzar party together with nine other colleagues in 2015. Poggi reflected on the year’s achievements, saying the administration had started from a "minus 10" position and was now "standing on the ring," having successfully balanced the budget and tackled corruption.
Valeria Lange assumed the directorship of Asuntos Municipales, with Poggi highlighting her key contributions to the ministry through the "Construyendo con tu Pueblo" program and her prior role as director of Infraestructura Escolar. Poggi underscored the importance of maintaining a respectful dialogue with the 66 intendentes in the province, with eight or nine of them aligning with the governing party.
In his new role, Álvarez Pintopledged to strengthen the four fundamental pillars laid out by Governor Poggi for the tourism sector. He emphasized the crucial role of the private sector in fostering tourist growth and development, noting that "no locality or pueblo can develop tourism without a strong private sector."
Amondarain, meanwhile, committed to fortifying the security and reliability of the province’s registers, including the Civil Registry, Real Property Registry, and the Public Registry of Commerce. He vowed to enhance these services by incorporating more technology and fostering closer ties with the province’s intendentes.
As the new ministers took their oaths, Governor Poggi expressed confidence in their abilities and reassured the public that he would remain committed to working in tandem with them for the betterment of San Luis. The ceremony served as a testament to the province’s dedication to fostering a diverse and representative government that prioritizes the well-being of all its citizens.
