Guadalupe Explosion: One Dead, Seven Injured After Blast in Clandestine Fireworks Warehouse

A devastating explosion at an apparent clandestine fireworks warehouse in Guadalupe’s Valle del Sol colony left one person dead and seven injured on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred around 6:50 PM at the intersection of Del Paisaje and De la Palma streets.

Initially, the Guadalupe Civil Protection Center (C5) reported three fatalities. However, authorities later confirmed that only one person had succumbed to their injuries. This individual was trapped inside the residence, likely due to a disability, and could not escape. Seven others were injured, including a baby and a 36-year-old man who suffered third-degree burns and was rushed to the IMSS Hospital Zone by the Red Cross.

Erick Cavazos, Director of Protección Civil, urged citizens to report such illicit fireworks depots, emphasizing the grave danger they pose to nearby families. He also noted that reducing demand would deter such operations.

"Keep reporting these types of houses that store fireworks. They’re a risk to families, as we’ve sadly seen. If we don’t buy these items, there won’t be a market for them," Cavazos stated during an ABC Radio link.
